...currently working on creating a Listening to Nature Toolkit to help nonprofits, businesses, research institutions, and agencies “listen” to the voices of Nature. We want to help organizations across the Upper St. Lawrence River and Adirondack Watersheds act in the best interest of their other-than-human neighbors. Together we can meet Nature’s needs and respect the Rights of all.
Embarking on this journey, Talking Rivers is following in the footsteps of Lawyers for Nature, the Earth Law Center, and cultures around the world that have been listening to the voices of ecosystems for millennia. While specifically created for the watersheds we call home, the toolkit will help interested organizations act in a respectful way with all other-than-human beings, making sure these entities are considered in the decision-making process.
Talking Rivers is hosting a series of three community conversations, in which we invite participants to discuss how we can all listen to the voices of Nature.
These open discussions will be centered around the questions: How can natural entities be part of the decision making process of businesses and organizations? How can we act reciprocally with the ecosystems that sustain us?
Two of the events will be virtual (click to register below) and there will be one in-person conversation that will take place on November 7th at 6:00 PM, at the Adirondack Writing Center, in Saranac Lake, NY.
The two virtual conversations till take place on ZOOM on the following dates:
October 16th @ 6:00 PM
October 30th @ 6:00 PM
