Our Logo Explained
A river flows from the Adirondack Mountains, running swiftly towards the valley and the Great River. A green landscape stretches beyond the water’s banks, the vegetation passing from trees to fields and meadows. Then, the river jumps, as it changes elevation, liberating their force, a symbol of the many powerful waterfalls that populate the North Country/ Haudenosauneee Territory.
In the foreground, perched on a branch, sits a black and golden owl. The owl is a river guardian, one of the many beings that populate the waterway’s banks. The Bird is also a spirit, a river watcher, a messenger. Yet, while the mountains and the river have an organic form, the owl stands out, their hard geometric lines standing in contrast with the surrounding landscape. In this context, the owl represents the humans of this organization, and the organization itself. Their belly is a large mouth through with the River passes, as we strive to listen and speak for their rights.
