Cathy spent her career as an earth scientist and educator at St. Lawrence University teaching geology and a variety of courses focused on the natural world. She helped to create and later directed St. Lawrence’s Outdoor Studies Department, Adirondack Semester and Sustainability Program. All of these programs strive to inform and instill a deep desire to protect the environment.
Cathy serves on the Canton, NY Sustainability Committee. She feels passionately that there is no work more critical than that which addresses the climate crisis because we and all beings and all natural entities, such as rivers, are connected and interdependent. That which threatens any one part of the environment, threatens us all.
